Our Guiding Principles

JCI North Carolina (the North Carolina Jaycees) is a not-for-profit organization of young active citizens. Our members, ages 18-40, develop themselves personally and professionally by bringing energy and insight to solving problems locally and around the world. Membership has been inclusive of all genders in the United States since 1984.

Jaycees are not only members of their local chapter, but of the North Carolina Jaycees, the United States Junior Chamber, and Junior Chamber International (JCI), a worldwide federation of almost a quarter of a million young leaders and entrepreneurs, located in more than 5,000 communities in over 100 nations throughout the world, participating in projects, meetings, learning programs and events to help create positive change in our world.

Mission Statement

To provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.

Vision Statement

To be the leading global network of young active citizens.

The Jaycee Creed

Since it was originally adopted in 1946, Junior Chamber members all over the world have recited the Jaycee Creed at local, national, and international functions. Every member is free to interpret the Creed in the light of their own conscience.

We Believe:

That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life.

That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations.

That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise.

That government should be of laws rather than of men.

That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality.

And that service to humanity is the best work of life!
